How to Sell: Basic Tips

Selling on iOffer is easy. There are three ways to sell your items. New sellers usually start with “List An Item”.

  • List an Item List a single item. Select appropriate category. Enter a title, description, picture(s), price, and shipping. Not sure about asking price? Let the buyer “Make An Offer.” No fees, unless your items sells.

Here are some more Basic Selling Tips to help get you going:

  • Read the Seller Safety Guide.
  • Understand seller fees. Review the Fees & Credit Policy.
  • Shop where you sell. Buy on iOffer to learn from other sellers. This is also a great way to build up your seller rating and your trusted connections. See Basic Buying Tips for more information.
  • Describe item condition completely and honestly. Spelling and grammar count! Use all 55 characters available for item title, and include specific keywords for search optimization.
  • Use photos to enhance item listings.
  • Respond promptly to all offers and questions. When answering a buyer question, include an offer to close the sale.
  • Make sure that your Seller Preferences are up to date.
  • Set a realistic asking price. (Note: a price is required for Froogle search.)
  • If a buyer does not pay for item purchased, leave a Non-Paying Buyer (NPB) Rating.
  • Send buyer invoice within 3 business days of offer acceptance or item purchase. When possible, use fixed shipping with auto-invoice.
  • Shipping is important. Include reasonable (if any) handling charges. Pack carefully and ship promptly. Offer tracking and insurance for high value items, and be sure to communicate the ship date.
  • Make sure to customize your Store, define Store Policies and advertise any “sale” items you wish.
